Personal Growth isn’t just about mindset—it’s about action, reflection, and being willing to evolve as life and business demand it.
Over the past quarter, I’ve learned that the growth of my business is directly tied to my own growth as a leader, entrepreneur, and person.
In this blog, I’ll share the lessons I’ve picked up recently about adapting to change, finding better systems, listening to others, and staying visible in the community.
Each of these has pushed me toward greater efficiency, stronger relationships, and more meaningful progress.
1. Growth Demands Adaptation
When I started out as a custom home builder, I was doing everything on my own—estimating jobs, typing up bids, and juggling countless details. That worked when things were small, but as my business grew, so did the demands.
I had to face a hard truth: the same methods that worked at the beginning won’t carry you through the next stage. Personal growth meant embracing change—finding the right software, hiring the right people, and letting go of outdated systems.
2. Time is Money—Invest Wisely
One of my biggest breakthroughs was investing in estimating software. At first, the cost felt heavy. But then I realized: time is one of my most valuable assets. By sending out professional, same-day quotes, I not only saved time but also opened the door to more sales.
Personal growth means shifting perspective—understanding that sometimes the bigger investment pays the greater return.
3. Listen and Learn from Others
One powerful reminder this quarter came from a casual conversation. A colleague dropped a simple idea that sparked a whole new opportunity for me to hire more crew members and grow my capacity.
I used to keep my thoughts and challenges private. But I’ve learned that openness—listening to others, sharing ideas, and being willing to learn—can uncover solutions you never considered. Personal growth often starts with humility and openness.
4. Visibility Fuels Opportunity
For years, I avoided “bragging” about my business. But visibility matters. Social media, community groups, and word-of-mouth are invaluable tools for staying top of mind.
Being present and vocal in the community isn’t about ego—it’s about connection. The more people know what you do, the more likely they are to refer you when the opportunity comes.
5. Who, Not How
A book that shaped my recent quarter was Who Not How by Dan Sullivan. The lesson is simple: stop asking, “How can I do this?” and start asking, “Who can help me do this?”
Personal growth means letting go of the belief that you need to do it all yourself. Delegating tasks like bookkeeping, invoicing, and office management has freed me to focus on the work that really drives results.
6. Patience and Perspective
Another key lesson: growth takes patience. Clients want quality, and cutting corners isn’t an option. Sometimes that means saying no to the wrong fit or asking customers to wait.
Personal growth is about playing the long game—choosing excellence over shortcuts, and remembering that the best things take time.

Reflection: How Have You Grown This Year?
We’re moving fast toward the end of the year. Now is the time to pause, reflect, and ask yourself:
- Where was I in January?
- Where am I now?
- Am I meeting the goals I set?
Take time to journal, strategize, and recognize the growth you’ve already achieved. Personal growth isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress.
Final Thoughts
The past quarter has shown me that Personal Growth is the foundation of business growth. By adapting, investing wisely, listening, staying visible, finding the right people, and practicing patience, I’ve not only improved my business but also grown as a leader.
As the year continues, I encourage you to reflect on your own journey. What changes can you make today that will shape your tomorrow?
